New (to me) Food Find!

I don't know if I'm late to the party on this one, or what...but have you guys seen this yogurt? It's Dannon Light and Fit Greek. And check out the stats: 80 calories and TWELVE grams of protein.
I mean...twelve grams of protein for 80 calories is what I consider a hell of a good deal. I'm going to eat this for breakfast this week with a hardboiled egg. After my Unjury coffee, that is! Can't live without it. This means I will be getting in 30 grams of protein before 11:00am. Score!

The only flavors I've tried so far are the Key Lime pictured above, and the Toasted Coconut Vanilla. Both were great, but the TCV gets an A+. Really rich coconut flavor. It was almost dessert-like. Here is a complete list of flavors:

Toasted Coconut Vanilla
Strawberry
Cherry Chocolate
Blueberry
Vanilla
Peach
Pineapple
Cherry
Banana Cream
Key Lime
Pomegranate Berry
Blackberry
Strawberry Cheesecake
Caramel Macchiato
Strawberry Banana
Raspberry Chocolate
Orange Cream

I will be tracking down the Raspberry Chocolate flavor as soon as humanly possible. The Strawberry Cheesecake flavor too.

If you guys already eat this, what other flavors do you like?

  1. What is this unjury coffee you speak of? The yogurt is awesomely delicious. I am a big fan of the lime. I need to try the TCV though it sounds like :)

    1. I'm not sure how this delicious yogurt has eluded me for so long! So glad I found it.

Ah..Unjury. It is literally the best thing I've have found during my entire lapband experience. I first found out about it on Lap Band Gal's blog. It's the most delicious protein powder out there. In my opinion. I have a half scoop every day in my morning coffee...either the Vanilla or the Chocolate Splendor flavor. I had to do a liquid prep diet before surgery and it was my mainstay. Not to mention the days of liquids I was on after surgery. Now it's just like a nice supplement to all the protein I'm already eating. A good way to ensure I get to my daily 60 grams.

    2. Sorry for the two-parter. My iPad is acting weird.

Anyway...go check it out at Unjury.com. They have a starter kit that will let you try everything. :)

  2. I found your blog when googling what to eat after lapband. I think I've read all of your posts! I'm considering the surgery and going to the seminar this Thursday. I've been reading a lot about the types of food you eat after the surgery, so I decided to start trying different Greek yogurts to see what I like... And I totally picked up this Dannon yogurt today in raspberry chocolate! I also am going to try some of those chobani bites... I'm a little scared of Greek yogurt, so hopefully it's good!

You are an inspiration for me as I start this journey :)

    1. Yay! I'm glad you are here! Thanks for reading my posts too! As you can tell, it's been quite the journey and I wouldn't change it for the world.

I'm telling you...if loving yogurt this much is wrong, I don't wanna be right! Ha! I'm jealous of your Raspberry Chocolate. I'm going to try to find that one tomorrow.

Good luck at the seminar! Let me know how it goes. :)

    2. Sooo.... I tried the Raspberry Chocolate tonight and it was SO GOOD. I'm the type of person who smells my food before I eat it, and I was always a bit weirded out by the smell of Greek yogurt, but oh my gosh... it tasted just like this raspberry chocolate truffle from a local chocolate shop near my house, but with less calories and good for you! I'm definitely going to be trying out the other flavors.!

    3. Ok...now I'm even more excited to try it. I bought a 4 pack at Target yesterday and I'll be having it with my breakfast tomorrow. YAY!

  3. Don't buy the caramel macchiato... omg it is HORRIBLE! I choked down the four of them since I bought them, but never again. None of my grocery stores carry many of these flavors but I do really love the cherry!

    1. I'm so glad you told me this! That flavor was featured in the Target ad today, and I was considering it.

You need to post a photo of yourself in that amazing red and black dress like immediately!

  4. Do you think having the flavored yogurts add on too much sugar? My trainer insists on plain Greek yogurt which I find disgusting. I have to doctor it up with sweet low. I don't particularly love using so much artificial sweetener. I don't know what's worse.

    1. Well...that's a good question. I can only tell you what I do and what works for me. I have no nutrition degree! Ha!

The daily recommendation for women is no more than 25 grams of sugar. It's not something I really watch, because I know that most of the foods I eat contain very little sugar. So something like this yogurt, which has only 7 grams, is just fine.

Now...the question about artificial sweetener? That's a whole other can of worms. I like Splenda myself, but that's just me. I feel better about it than saccharine. Stevia is probably the "healthiest" of all. Because it's natural.

    1. Ooooh that sounds good. I tried the Banana Cream flavor today and it was great, but so far the TCV is winning. I put the Key Lime in my lunch for tomorrow. :)

  7. I throw one of these in my protein smoothie every morning for breakfast - 1 yogurt (80 calories), 1 cup unsweetened almond milk (35 calories), 1/2 cup berries (40 calories), 1 scoop EAS Lean 15 Protein Powder (50 calories), 1 Tbsp. almond butter for healthy fat (100 calories). That's my whole breakfast that holds me for HOURS for 305 calories and a TON of protein. I like the toasted coconut vanilla best but I'll switch it up with pineapple, strawberry, vanilla, cherry, peach, blackberry, or orange cream. The orange cream is SO good with blueberries. Haven't tried the key lime, but I'll get that one the next time I shop.

    1. That sounds AMAZING! Especially with the almond butter. I love that stuff so much.

I've only tried a few flavors, but the TCV seems to be the best by far. Thank you so much for commenting and for sharing that recipe. It makes me want to go buy a NutriBullet immediately. :)

  8. I will have to check this out!. I've been eating the greek yogurts from Aldi's which have 14 grams of protein, but are 140 calories. I love the blueberry and peach, but there is a lot more variety with the Dannon!

    1. Same here! It seemed like every Greek yogurt I liked was in the neighborhood of 140-160 calories. Not much for the average person, but when your goal is 900 like mine, EVERY calorie counts.

Yes! Check it out and let me know what you think. :)

  9. toasted coconut vanilla......drooling....

Shopping trip tomorrow. All the recipes suggested in the comments sound great! I see smoothies in my future this week. :-) I have a bag of PB2 I haven't used in ages, too...I haven't done smoothies in a long time for some reason.

    1. Doesn't that smoothie recipe sound amazing? I'll definitely be trying that this summer. I know...me either. I think I equate them with warm weather. :)

  10. I agree about artificial sweetener. I try and stay away from it. I'm trying really hard to follow this specific diet and flavored yogurt was a big no no. I still think it's better than sweet n low.

  11. Oh but I want to thank you about recommending "my fitness pal". I finally found a way to correctly keep a food diary.
